This handsome design was engraved by Asher B. Durand – the acclaimed 19th century artist who rose to prominence after engraving John Trumbull's famed painting Declaration of Independence in 1823. Each Uniface note offered here displays portraits of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin at the top, with a Greek figure at left and Washington on horseback at right.
