All silver 3¢ are scarce today. Back in the 1850s America's smallest silver coin, certainly caused problems because of its size. Just 14mm in diameter (today's dime is 17.9mm), this tiny 19th century coin would easily get lost in pockets, and with workers earning less than10¢ an hour that caused a problem! Today it's easy to see 3¢ had lots of buying power back then. Recall those early days with this 1852 three-cent piece.
