Here's your chance to own the first two 5¢ Fractional Note designs! Fractional currency was created to alleviate a coin shortage caused by widespread hoarding during the Civil War. With this 2-note set, you'll enjoy:

  • 1862-1863 5¢ note – This first issue was produced for just 9 months, from August 1862-May 1863. Because it featured the same image as the current 5¢ postage stamp (depicting Thomas Jefferson) on its face, it is also known as Postage Currency.
  • 1863-1867 5¢ note – The second issue, printed from 1863-1867, features a portrait of George Washington on the face. It is surrounded by a bronze oval, which was added as an anti-counterfeiting measure.

Act now to own this historic 2-note set, in nicely detailed Fine condition.
