1969B $1 Federal Reserve Star Note

Issued for just 4 months and 25 days in 1971, Series 1969B $1 Federal Reserve Notes are now over 50 years old – and the special Star Notes offered here are still in Choice Crisp Uncirculated condition. Star Notes are issued as replacements for notes damaged during production, and are scarcer than regular issues. These notes bear the signature of Republican Party activist and 33rd U.S. Treasurer Dorothy Andrews Kabis, who died unexpectedly in July of 1971. Following her passing, an internship program for young women was established in her honor.

These notes also bear the signature of U.S. Secretary of the Treasury John B. Connally. During WWII, he served on General Eisenhower’s staff during the planning of the North Africa Campaign. Later in 1963, while serving as Governor of Texas, he was riding in the presidential limousine (and was seriously injured) when John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
