2022 Quarter Designs
New quarters in 2022 were the first issues in the U.S. Women Quarters series – a historic four-year series honoring the accomplishments of women in American history. Each coin bears a common obverse with a right-facing George Washington designed by Larua Gardin Fraser. Five reverse designs are issued per year, each featuring a different American woman. The 2022 quarters honor:
- Maya Angelou – Writer, performer and activist
- Dr. Sally Ride – Physicist, astronaut and educator; first American woman in space
- Wilma Mankiller – Cherokee Chief and community developer
- Nina Otero-Warren – Educator and suffrage leader
- Anna May Wong – Chinese American actress
Following the 2022 U.S. quarters, 15 additional designs will be released from 2023 through 2025.
