2024 Flowing Hair Silver Medal

America’s first silver dollar, the 1794 Flowing Hair dollar represented the freedom and independence the newly formed United States had won just eleven years earlier. In celebration of the coin’s 230th anniversary in 2024, the U.S. Mint has honored that fighting spirit with a medal issued in 99.9% silver. Remaining true to the original design, the obverse features Liberty with flowing hair surrounded by 15 stars representing the states that ratified the constitution in 1794. While the reverse displays an eagle inside of a laurel wreath. In recognition of the original mint that issued the Flowing Hair dollar, each medal has been struck at the Philadelphia Mint and comes presented in official U.S. Mint packaging.
