After a gap last year, the U.S. Mint is issuing commemorative coins in 2024, starting with the bicentennial of Harriet Tubman’s birth in 1824. After freeing herself from slavery, Harriet Tubman returned to the South to lead others to freedom on the Underground Railroad. She joined the Union Army as a nurse, and also served as a scout and spy. As the first woman to lead an armed expedition, she helped free more than 700 enslaved people in South Carolina. After the war, Harriet turned her boarding house outside Auburn, NY into a care home for the elderly. It is now a National Historical Park.

Here’s your chance to add the Proof clad half dollar from the San Francisco Mint, honoring Tubman’s Civil War role as a nurse, scout and spy, leading the successful Combahee River Raid.

You can also add the Proof commemorative dollar struck in 99.9% pure silver at the Philadelphia Mint that features Tubman on the obverse, her right hand outstretched. The reverse depicts two clasped hands as a bridge guiding slaves to freedom. With our inventory limited, we expect these coins to go quickly – don’t wait to place your order for either, or buy both and SAVE!
