The White Mountains in New Hampshire, where Littleton is located, contain many small towns and hamlets, such as nearby Bethlehem, shown in these postcard views a century ago. With over 50 hotels and guests houses to choose from, weary travelers could go from the Boston & Maine rail station to their hotel by stage – if they were lucky enough to be guests at the Maplewood Hotel. Today, the railroad and hotel are gone, but the hotel's casino building operates as a small inn, and the Maplewood golf course is open to the public. The historic town of Bethlehem is only 5 miles from Littleton, should you visit.
